Develop Your Team
Complement their existing skill set
Provide new tools for casework and self-care
Introduce training endorsed by other reputable agencies
For almost 20 years service agencies in both New Zealand and Australia have been privately commissioning IDT for in-house team training. Whilst agencies regularly enrol their staff as individuals in ‘public courses’, it is generally more cost effective to organise an in-house training course.
Managers of service agencies report that IDT produces:
- breakthrough results with challenging clients
- provides new tools for team consultations
- results in more satisfying and enduring changes for clients
- an increase in practitioner confidence and a faster turnaround of cases
The starting point for IDT training is the Foundation Course, which consists of two 2-day units. Unit One introduces the basic method and principles and Unit 2 outlines the IDT map of the therapeutic process and additional IDT ways of working. The Foundation course is designed for teaching IDT to professionals for use with clients, and is intense, fast-moving and experientially-based.
IDT Limited can further support the on-going development of your team by providing an IDT Professional Development pathway. Additional training is available in the following extension courses:
- IDT Intermediate (3-day)
- IDT Advanced (3-day)
And Special Application Workshops:
- Using IDT with Children & Adolescents
- Couples & Family work
- IDT Group work
- IDT-Based Supervision
IDT Limited can also arrange for on-going monthly or quarterly IDT-based supervision for your team.
Of particular interest is the opportunity for your service agency to take on an IDT License and secure the right to offer IDT training to all practitioners and other agencies within a prescribed territory or community. This provides the opportunity for your agency to secure a supplementary income stream as well as access further-on IDT training, and leads to having your own team of IDT teachers.
Please email your local IDT Office if this interests you and we can visit and discuss this with you.

- “IDT is a brilliant concept. Simple, yet so effective”.
Problem Gambling Foundation of New Zealand
“In our use of IDT since the completion of the course, we have noticed that it fits well with modalities we already use and are familiar with. It appears to be well suited to working in the addictions field, as it efficiently reaches beneath surface issues. We are finding that IDT opens up a pathway of communication for some of our less verbal clients. Some of our mental health clients have responded very positively to using IDT”.
Education Queensland, Australia

“As a result of attending this training, participants have been discussing the organization of IDT working groups to peer supervise and keep in touch with other workers using the technique. This is very positive, as it shows how keen workers are to use the tools and techniques learnt in this training.”

“The use of IDT has been found to draw out problems and issues for clients; gain insight, movement and growth more quickly than many other therapies; reduces dysfunctional emotions and stress; motivates and empowers clients to find own appropriate solution for self; complements other therapies; a very good medium for people who find cognitive methods difficult and unable to express verbally”.
“We continue to be delighted, excited and amazed at the wide uses of IDT in the mental health setting”
“It’s the best psychological tool I’ve found and I’ve been working in social welfare for 30 years”
“I am using IDT more and more in my work as a social worker and loving the results for the clients. Thank you.”
